Highlights for January 16th, 2010 Board of Directors Meeting

  • As we are no longer receiving sponsorship from Canadian Off Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) for the Youth Rider Safety program; Can-Am has stepped up to sponsor this amazing program. There will be more information to soon follow regarding new training materials etc.
  • The OFATV Raffle will continue for 2010; the Grand prize will consist of a Can-Am ATV, a Triton trailer, an ATV helmet, Baffin ATV boots, a Steadymate strap kit, and a $300 Choko gift certificate to use towards riding gear. Ticket prices will remain at $5.
  • The OFATV Raffle will be launched at the Toronto Sportsman Show; this is a great opportunity for Clubs to make a little extra money by having Club members come out to sell as many Raffle tickets as possible.
  • The Toronto Sportsman Show is coming up on March 17th - 21st . We need Club Volunteers to help support and man the booth; this is a great opportunity for Clubs to come out and get our information out to ATV riders and to sell permits.
  • The Toronto Power Sports Show will likely take place October 15th – 17th. The OFATV has the opportunity to have our OWN ROOM at the show to host District representation along with corporate representation around the perimeter with corporate manufacturer booths in the middle. This is all being offered to the OFATV FREE OF CHARGE, but this is not possible without volunteer support!! We are looking for Clubs to volunteer to attend the show and represent their Districts. We will also have the opportunity to have a FREE training room where we can hold Youth Rider Safety classes; we need trainers to volunteer to hold these classes!
  • We will also be holding our Provincial Raffle draw at the Power Sports Show; which will be a big draw for ATVers.
  • The 2010 OFATV Budget has been approved
  • With the provincial government introducing the new HST tax in July 2010, please keep in mind that the OFATV will also have to include HST on all OFATV memberships.
  • The current Revenue Leveling formula is being reviewed; OFATV District Directors will be in touch with each Club to present the new proposal to give all OFATV members the chance to vote on it. By reviewing this formula again, the OFATV’s main goal is to get more money upfront to the clubs. This does two things; it will help improve our trails by being able to reinvest back into the trails quickly, and also may help bring in some new clubs or Organizations that are sitting on the fence.
